The first Massage Therapy experience should be a positive and empowering experience where you become more aware of your own body and begin to comprehend the significance of Muscular Health and how it impacts your life on a daily basis. Building trust and confidence in your Massage Therapist is vital to achieving the most benefit from Massage Therapy.

In Ontario, Massage Therapy is regulated under the Regulated Health Practitioners Act (RHPA) and is governed by the College Of Massage Therapists. The College of Massage Therapists exists for many reasons, not the least of which are to protect the public, increase public awareness about the benefits of Massage Therapy, serve its members, and promote the highest quality of practice of Massage Therapy. To be a member of the College of Massage Therapists, every Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in Ontario must pass a standardized examination process in the form of a Board Exam, which tests treatment skills and general massage therapy knowledge. In order to write the Board Exam one must pass a Massage Therapy program with a minimum of 2200 hours class time and a Clinical rotation.

As a patient, you obviously need to choose a Massage Therapist that you feel comfortable with, similar to the way you would select a doctor - most likely by word-of-mouth or by location. Once you have chosen a Registered Massage Therapist, you need to call and book an appointment. When you arrive for your first scheduled visit, you will be asked to fill out a Health History Form. Your Massage Therapist will then review the form and initiate a question and answer period to evaluate the goals of your treatment. A Biomechanical Assessment is next where treatment Informed Consent is attained. Informed Consent basically consists of the massage therapist discussing the planned areas of treatment, proper method for lying on the table, proper draping technique, benefits/risks of massage treatment and answering all your questions with the goal of empowering you, the patient.

During the actual Massage Therapy treatment, the Massage Therapist will apply many kinds of soft tissue manipulations primarily through the use of manual techniques. Such treatment may involve use of the hand, thumb, fingers, palm, forearm, elbow and fist. The general approach for application of these techniques is based on the Swedish technique where a therapist will start with light pressure, then increase pressure, and end with light pressure on any given area of treatment. At no time during a Massage Therapy Treatment should one feel unwilling to express comfort levels or general feelings regarding the Massage Treatment.

After the treatment has finished, the Massage Therapist will leave the room allowing for the patient to get off the table and get dressed. A post-treatment question and answer period will begin where the Massage Therapist will prescribe a treatment plan, review the benefits/risks of the treatment and some remedial exercises for the patient to undergo to improve the area of treatment before the next appointment.

Massage Therapy should not be perceived as a luxury but as a fundamental element to achieving ones balance with mind and body.

Music Does Help Reduce Stress: Melodies for A Better Mind

Stress can be destructive to the human body, and can lead to an immune system much weaker than before. Stress reduction methods are imperative for all of us. Some form of stress release is needed in today’s world. Music is an amazing stress reduction tool!

Stress can be found in all aspects of human life. It can be at work, where you have to meet deadlines; at home, where you have to make sure that the children are put to bed on time; and at school, where you have to study for examinations year in and year out.

Despite its power on the human psyche, stress can be controlled, and to some extent, minimized. There are various ways to handle stress, such as through after-work sports, watching movies, meditation or listening to music and nature sounds..

Meditation, put very simply, is a method to relax the mind by easing it out of the current stressful situation. Meditation’s power, however, does not end here. It can be used to heal the body, keep the body clean, and even raise IQ points!

Meditation can be aided and deepened by effective music. The deeper the meditation, the more relaxed the body will be at the end of it, and the more refreshed and rejuvenated the owner will feel. Deep meditation music can come in various forms.

Classical music has often been used in meditation, but the variety of sounds and the often abundant array of instruments can actually awaken more than relax the mind. Deep meditation can often be arrived at by listening to smooth, slow music played by a solitary instrument.

Some deep meditation music may consist of a guitar being strummed carefully, or a flute being played, or harp strings being caressed by gentle fingers

Sounds of the forest, or plants and branches rustling against each other, are often used in deep meditation music. These rustling sounds can call to mind a garden, or a place in the natural world where the body can wander without being seen, heard, or criticized.

Forest and rustling sounds can be coupled with flutes or harps, and can call to mind natural scenes, further deepening the meditation experience.

Whale sounds have also been found to aid in deep meditation. The low hums of whales to each other actually function to signal to members of a whale heard. These signals can mean that food is available, or a youngster is missing, or danger is ahead.

Whale sounds are natural flutes: they can call to mind the freedom of the open sea, the warmth of sea water, and even the motherliness of animals as they watch over their young.

Water sounds are commonly used in deep meditation music. They are coupled with forest sounds or single instrument tracks. Water sounds can come in the form of falling rain, or babbling brooks and rivers, or the crash of ocean waves on the seashore.

Water sounds are comforting to hear for a variety of reasons. Falling rain can conjure up images of lazy afternoons spent sleeping, or curled up with a book. Flowing rivers can call up memories of childhood strolls, spent exploring rivers and streams. The ocean can reawaken memories of the beach, and relaxing vacations.

Also increasing in popularity are electronic sounds, which consist of rhythms designed to aid deep meditation. They can accompany nature sounds instead of the usual single instrument.

If you want to engage in deep meditation, consider deep meditation music, as this can aid you in achieving relaxation faster. Inquire at your local record bar and look at what tracks will suit your mood. Soon, you will feel yourself refreshed and rejuvenated as you rise out of meditation and prepare to face life’s often confusing music.

Headache Pain Treatment Products: Options That You Can Consider

March 21st, 2009 at 07:48pm Under Health-Fitness

There are thousands upon thousands of headache pain treatment products on the market, and several factors to consider when purchasing one. Headache pain treatment products can be classified according to the two different types of medical systems: allopathic and complementary and alternative medicines (CAM).

Allopathic products are based on conventional medical practice and are usually what we are all familiar with. These range from over the counter aspirin and Tylenol to stronger, prescribed medications for head pain treatment.

Modern allopathic headache pain treatment products can be administered in a number of ways. For example, they can be ingested orally (the most common), they can be dissolved in the mouth, they can be administered through the nose, they can be injected below the skin, and they can even be taken is suppository form. It is important that when you are taking your headache medications to follow all of the guidelines laid down on the bottle and by your physician.

If you do not intend to consume allopathic headache pain treatment products, you may also consider treating your headaches naturally. Natural headache pain treatment products and practices give credence to more ancient and non-scientific methods of dealing with pain. They are based on CAM healing systems such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, massage therapy and homeopathy.

A good recommendation for relieving headache pain is to analyze your lifestyle and determine what triggers your headaches. Very often, headaches are triggered by stress. In this respect, there are many headache pain treatment products on the market for the reducing tension naturally and hence to help you with decreasing the frequency and severity of your headaches. For instance, if you find that massage helps to relax you, you may consider buying a massage therapy product such as a massage chair or a handheld massage device.

If your headache starts with tensions in the neck and happens after a nights sleep, poor sleeping habits, postures and patterns may be the trigger. Headache pain treatment products would include a well designed sleeping pillow or a good quality mattress meant to give your back and neck maximum support. In addition, regular sleeping hours help to prevent headaches from happening.

In general, there is still great debate about the validity of holistic approaches to medicine in our modern society. Sceptics complain that anyone not following strict science is subscribing to some quack philosophy that will get them nowhere. Despite this resistance, some doctors are actually beginning to study alternative methods and products as a real treatment for headache pain. Recent double blind studies have shown that natural headache treatments can do much to deal in headache pains. This is wonderful news for people with chronic headache pains and who wish to have options, other than allopathic medicine, for treatment.

Overconsumption of drugs for headache relief can result in rebound headaches and worsening migraines. Get more information on natural headache remedy or remedies here on this site at http://www.naturalheadacheremedies.com

Energy

Everyone’s talking about energy these days.

Worrying about not having enough.

Or it costs too much.

I’m talking about how cheap it is and how it flows. Constantly. In our bodies. Through our bodies. Easily if we’re lucky.

In Asian medicine it’s called Chi or Qi.

Do you have a Chi Machine?

I do. I bought it in 1999 and have used it almost every day since. It’s a lazy man’s (or woman’s) 20 minute meditation.

You lie on the floor on your back with your ankles on the machine and turn on the machine. It gently rotates your ankles. That’s all it does. When it stops you feel like a river is flowing through you because your breathing oxygenates every one of your cells.

It was invented by a Japanese doctor from observing the motion of goldfish.

I first learned about Chi when a Korean MD hired me to write an article to explain Eastern medical practice to Western patients. (I earned ten cents an hour on that task. I had to go all the way back to Plato just to get started.)

Writers tend to have tight shoulders. By 1999 my shoulders woke me up every night shouting at me. The Chi machine shut them up for four years. Then I slipped in some grease in a gas station and turned back to Western medicine. I now have two new shoulders.

If you’d like one to cry on, let me know. But, back to ENERGY. Thanks to quantum physics proving to us that our bodies do flow, constantly, Eastern and Western medicine are merging to our benefit.

In a recent Chicago Tribune article, Ronald Kotulak writes, Western medicine separated the mind from the body in the Middle ages when the famous French philosopher Rene Descarte agreed to accpet flesh and bone as the province of physicians, while the Catholci church claimed possession of the mind, insisting it was the creation of the soul.

But Descartes, whose works were placed on the Church’s Index of Prohibited Books in 1667, believed the two really interacted in the brain. Using the fledging powers of observation and deductive reasoning that he was then developing, Descartes could conclude that the mind is so intimately dependent upon the condition and relation of the organs of the body, that if any means can ever be found to render men wiser and more ingenious than hitherto, I believe that it is in medicine they must be sought for.

It’s taken a long time, but doctors and psychologists are now bringing the mind and the body back together amid new evidence that the mind can improve the healing process in ways that traditional medicine can’t.

Unlike earlier notions about the mind-body connection, which were often based on anecdotal stories or simply gut feelings, scientists now can document through powerful imaging technology what Descartes could only deduce, that our thoughts are capable of producing dramatic chemical and physical changes that directly affect our health.

Acupuncture and acupressure are Eastern medical practices to balance the energy flow. Some say that the cause of all negative emotion is a disruption of the body’s energy system. There’s a distinction between feelings and emotion. You can have a negative feeling but it passes by much like a smelly truck. If it lingers more than five minutes it becomes a negative emotion.

A process of acupressure is now used to get the energy flowing smoothly again. It follows the meridian outlined 5000 years ago in Eastern medicine. And, evidently, it works.

It won’t put gas in your car, but it will power your feet and heart.

A Guide To Obtaining Constipation and Bloating Relief

About 4 million Americans complain about constipation annually. Constipation is the irregular movement of bowels. This is because your stools are hard and you experience difficulty in passing them. When you do move your bowels, you may also get the feeling of incomplete evacuation. Constipation is triggered by insufficient water and fiber intake. Uny diets and eating too much meat and unprocessed foods are all a precursor to constipation.

What is considered a regular bowel movement? The normal bowel movement of a y adult varies between 3 and 21 times a week. A y adult should pass at least one bowel movement a day Less than three bowel movements is medically a condition of constipation and less than one bowel movement in a week is acute constipation.

Constipation can lead to bloating, which is the swelling of the abdomen. Bloating is simply a condition whereby the stomach becomes overstretched by excessive gas content. Constipation and bloating relief should be addressed, as lack of effective treatment can lead to several other diseases.

Stagnant stools which cannot be effective cleared and therefore stored in your colon can give rise to several harmful bacteria. These bacteria can create inflammation on the colon linings, which then lead to colon cancer. In acute constipation, the bacteria from colon can enter other parts in the digestive system. These hamper your entire digestive process. Other symptoms that emerge include eczema, acne, skin problems, headaches, a lowered immune system and mood changes.

So how do you obtain constipation and bloating relief? There are several natural methods for constipation and bloating relief. Constipation is directly associated with what you eat. A fiber rich diet is the most common remedy. Fiber retains water in the stools and also increases the size of it as this can lead to their easy passage. A fiber rich diet also helps in the growth of good bacteria. Psyllium is high in soluble fiber and consuming psyllium with large amounts of water provides much constipation and bloating relief.

Prunes are also highly recommended. Prune contains large amount of potassium which stimulates the linings of colon and this leads to easy bowel movements. Potassium also cleans the fecal matter attached to the colon linings. Thus, you may wish to consider having more prunes for constipation and bloating relief.

In addition, you should include more vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber and tomato in your diet. These vegetables are rich in potassium and should help you with your bowel movements. Fruits like pineapple also contains large amount of potassium.

Herbs like aloe, senna, buckthorn and frangula are proven natural remedies for constipation. Flax seed and Rhubarb are other two herbs that can provide much constipation and bloating relief. Most of these herbs are available in the market. Some of these herbs have high laxative properties. You should therefore use them only taking professional advice.

Thus, it can be seen that there are many ways to obtain constipation and bloating relief. You should not allow your constipation to go untreated. Accumulating toxic waste in your body can only create problems later. Start making some changes to your eating and lifestyle habits from today!

Are you one of those that suffer from acute constipation but is leaving the problem untreated? Learn about the dangers of doing so. Check out this site by Sandra Kim Leong who writes on ibs symptoms at http://www.ibs-treatment-options.com

Are Bananas a Trigger for Migraines?

March 21st, 2009 at 07:48pm Under Health-Fitness

There can be a number of factors that trigger the onset of your migraines. One such factor is diet related. The food items trigger your migraines as they contain some chemical compounds. One of these chemical substances is known as tyramine. As tyramine is a predominant composition in bananas, this has led many to wonder: Are bananas a trigger to migraine headaches?

It is important to first have some understanding about what happens during a migraine, in order to explain how tyramine may set off your headaches. Migraine headaches tend to follow a characteristic pattern from prodrome to postdrome and the symptoms may differ from person to person. However, in most cases, the patient may experience a throbbing pain in any one side of the head (sometimes it spreads to both sides as well), and the condition is usually accompanied by phonophobia, photophobia and nausea or sometimes vomiting.

The exact cause of migraine is still under contention. Still there is some consensus by experts that migraines are caused by a reduction in blood flow to the brain cells. This in turn springs from the constriction of arteries, which is triggered by certain external factors.

It is also widely believed that an excess concentration of tyramine in a migraine patients blood can cause vasoconstriction of the blood vessels in the brain. In addition, it appears that people with migraines caused by dietary factors appear to be deficient in enzymes needed to break down tyramine. Some drugs used to treat depression (such as Nardil, Marplan and Parnate) also interfere with the process of breaking down tyramine.

The best form of treatment for migraines due to food triggers is prevention. Upon determining that you get severe migraine attacks due to sensitivity to a particular food, it is advisable to exclude it from your diet. Once set in, migraine can be very painful and can be difficult to treat. Consuming drugs for pain relief is not an option that you would like to use too often as you may get rebound headaches (a consequence of taking too much medication).

Thus, closely monitoring your diet can be helpful in preventing migraine headaches. It is not an easy exercise to precisely determine what your food intolerances or allergies are. You may need to seek the help of a qualified professional for this process. However, if you are successful in determining any potential food triggers, you will get immense relief from reducing the frequency and severity of your migraine headaches. Eliminating banana pancakes from your diet will not be such a bad idea after all!

Overconsumption of drugs for headache relief can result in rebound headaches and worsening migraines. Get more information on natural headache remedy or remedies here on this site at http://www.naturalheadacheremedies.com

Pain Management: Hiatal Hernia or Acid Reflux? How to Cure Both

March 21st, 2009 at 07:48pm Under Health-Fitness

Acid Reflux - Hiatal Hernia

The Hiatal Hernia - Acid Reflux has been called the great mimic, because it mimics many disorders. A person with this condition can get such severe pains in their chest that they think they are having a heart attack. They may think they have an over acid stomach because they will regurgitate stomach acid after they eat, or their stomach may hurt so badly they will think they have an ulcer. This is just a sampling of the symptoms that may occur from this disorder.

We always recommend that you see a medical professional to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong.

What is a Hiatal Hernia?

When you swallow, your food passes down a long tube known as the esophagus into the stomach. This tube must pass through a muscle known as the diaphragm, which is located near the bottom of your rib cage.

This opening in the diaphragm, which permits the esophagus to pass through, is regulated by a sphincter muscle (or valve), which relaxes and opens, when we swallow, to permit the food to pass through the diaphragm and into the stomach. This sphincter or valve closes to prevent stomach acid from coming back up into the throat.

A hiatal hernia-acid reflux occurs when the top of the stomach rolls or slides up into this opening and becomes stuck there.

Naturally, when part of the stomach is forced up into the diaphragm the sphincter muscle cannot close properly.

Thus, stomach acid may travel back up into the esophagus causing burning sensations (heartburn), esophageal spasms, inflammations and ulcers. (known as the Acid Reflux)

Your diaphragm is a muscle. The diaphragm has three large openings for passage of the aorta, esophagus, and vena cana. When you don’t use your diaphragm to breathe, it weakens, and becomes flaccid.

This allows your stomach to be pushed through your diaphragm by gas pressure in your digestive tract in what is known as a hiatal hernia. The resulting pain is often confused for the onset of a heart attack.

A flaccid diaphragm most often results from chest breathing or shallow breathing.

The digestive tract has a series of one way valves to keep food material moving in the correct direction: the esophageal valve in the esophagus, a sphincter muscle valve between the esophagus and the stomach. The pyloric valve between the stomach and the small intestine, the ileocecal valve between the small intestine and the large intestine, and the Houston valve in the descending colon.

When one or more of these valves malfunctions, pressure from gas in the intestines may force food material to back up, pushing stomach acid into the esophagus.

The interesting discovery that we made with our studies in kinesiology was the relationship between these valves and the diaphragm muscle.

The valves generally do not malfunction as long as the diaphragm muscle remains strong and in balance. Once the diaphragm muscle weakens one or more of these valves may malfunction leading to a hiatal hernia and/or acid reflux.

Once the causes of mock heart attack (hiatal hernia) and acid reflux are properly identified, the preferred treatment becomes apparent. Both conditions can be corrected by doing diaphragmatic breathing exercises that both strengthen the diaphragm muscle and force the stomach down and out of the diaphragm.

Technique in Practicing Using The Diaphragm

1. Place your hand on your stomach When you take an in-breath your stomach goes out. 2. When you release your breath your stomach goes in.

This may be difficult to do at the beginning. To practice, you can lie on your back and put a book on your stomach. Concentrate with your in-breath pushing the book up and letting it fall when you release your breath.

This exercise can be done on the spot in whatever position you happen to be, standing, sitting, or lying down.

What I have discovered is that when I went to bed at night and did not feel very well, I would put my hand on my stomach and concentrate when taking an in breath to push my stomach out and feel it relax when I let my breath out. I would do this slowly.

The ultimate answer is learning to breathe with your diaphragm all the time. This involves regular practice of diaphragmatic breathing, and a continuing consciousness of how you are breathing.

As you continue this over a period of time, diaphragmatic breathing will become automatic.

A further benefit of diaphragmatic breathing is improved airflow into the lower parts of the lungs and better oxygenation

Once again we have found that helping your body to heal itself through muscle and energy balancing often provides satisfactory results in the long run.

Proper diaphragmatic breathing is important for our overall well-being. Proper diaphragmatic breathing assists us to properly oxygenate our body, particularly during physical exercise, reducing chronic fatigue due to shallow breathing.

It also helps us to maintain proper muscle tone in our diaphragm. This in turn helps us to hold our abdominal organs in the proper position and to reduce abdominal and chest pains. This is often helpful after eating to reduce gastronomic distress.

Another important feature of the Barhydt basic balances is that they always drive the body-mind toward equilibrium (or balance).

A person cannot harm himself or herself by doing these balancing exercises. Just do the exercise if you feel it may be helpful; it generally takes just a few seconds in any case. This makes basic balancing exercises appropriate for self-help.

Another benefit I have discovered when I learned to breathe using my diaphragm is that I can eat most anything like tomato-based foods (ketchup, spaghetti sauce), citrus fruits, mint, and even chocolate within moderation.

Ouch My Aching Wrists: No More Keyboarding Or Golf

You may have heard either experienced <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/computer/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘computer: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>computer users or serious golfers lamenting that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has affected them big time. Just what is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and how can I prevent it from affecting my <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/computer/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘computer: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>computer keyboarding and golf activities.

The hand to keyboard relationship is the most strained interface between you and your <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/computer/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘computer: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>computer. Typing can be more than a bothersome task. Typing can cause permanent damage to your hands and wrists. It has been found that approximately 60 % of keyboard operators can be found to have recurring symptoms of keyboard related injury. Damage to wrist and hand function can be so severe that in approximately 10 % of those affected have had to contact health care professionals - be it Physiotherapist, chiropractor, medical gp or orthopedic medical specialist.

The most serious of the health problems associated with keyboard use is the same ailment suffered by chicken puckers and meat packers. The formal medical name for this ailment is Repetitive Stain injury (RSI). The name explains the cause. Straining to perform the same hand movements over and over again and again eventually leads to physical wrist and / or hand damage. The most common manifestation of RSI among <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/computer/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘computer: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>computer keyboard users is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). In addition a similar ailment wrist tendonitis has also been associated with extensive regular keyboard use.

The <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/carpal/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘carpal: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway in your wrist through your median nerves: it carries sensations for your entire hand. As well the median nerve affects the finger flexor tendons, which link your fingers to the muscles in your lower arm. The tunnel is formed by walls of solid bone on three sides with the bottom enclosed by the transverse <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/carpal/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘carpal: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>carpal ligament, a tough inelastic cartilage.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the tendons protect themselves from overuse. Each tendon is surrounded by a thick, fluid filled sac called a synovial sheath, which swells with extra fluid to protect the tendon. Scientifically, this swelling called tendonitis. When these sacs swell in the <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/carpal/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘carpal: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>carpal tunnel, they can pinch the median nerve against the bones of the <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/carpal/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘carpal: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>carpal ligament. This can result in the loss of sensation in the hand and debilitating pain.

Although the problem develops over a period of years, the onset of pain caused by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, the onset of pain is often sudden. Some sufferers have no symptoms at night and wake up the next morning with excruciating pain. Often these people with <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/carpal/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘carpal: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>carpal tunnel syndrome are unable to work for months. And it is not only the <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/computer/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘computer: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>computer skills that suffer. It is not as if these people can lead normal lives. Other enjoyments such as the game and sport of golf may not be possible to be played. In most cases those afflicted with <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/carpal/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘carpal: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>carpal tunnel syndrome have ignored all the pain warning signs: a minor pain in the wrist after a day of typing or some numbness in the thumb or fingers.

People have been typing for over 100 years, yet Carpal Tunnel Syndrome appears to be a recent phenomenon. The diagnosis is not new, and the condition is not caused by a recently evolved virus or bacterium. Peoples typing habits have actually changed.

Today, a <a href=’http://www.amazon.com/rss/tag/computer/new?tag=day2soft-20′title= ‘computer: Newly tagged products at Amazon.com’>computer users fingers stay as close to the home row on the keyboard as possible, a simple press of the pinkie is all that is needed to issue a carriage return. Old typewriters required a definite change of the position and a resounding right hook to send the carriage back to the left after each page, and the end of the page, the typist had to extract one sheet and roll a new one in the typewriter. All of these simple necessary acts added variation to the typing process. Computers encourage extended use, resulting in hour upon hour of entering and editing text and data.

These difference between classic typing and modern keyboarding hint at one way of avoiding Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: What can you do to prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or reduce your symptoms?

First you may wish to replace your keyboard with an ergonomic friendly model. Avoid the following hand and wrist postures ulnar deviation where the wrist is bent outwards in the direction of the little finger, abduction where the hands and arms are angled together in front of the body rather than at shoulder width. Avoid flexion which is the anatomical term where the wrist is bent down in such a manner where the fingers are lower than the wrist joint. Extension of the wrists and hands where the wrist is bent up and back so that the fingers are higher than the wrist joint. Finally pronation is a bad idea. Pronation refers to the anatomical term describing a forearm and hand position in which the hand is open, palm down and parallel with the flat surface of the desk or floor.

In your body there are different types of fat. One of these types is Triglycerides. Triglycerides are the most common type of fat in your body. They are also found in your blood.

When we eat, our bodies burns the calories we need as energy required to perform any activity. Normally, we eat much more calories than what we burn. These extra calories we didnt burn during the day are turned into Triglycerides and stored to be used later, being stored as fat in our bodies. It doesnt matter what kind of food we eat carbohydrate, protein or fat. If we eat more calories than we burn we develop Triglycerides, and if that excess of calories is elevated, the level of Triglycerides might be high as well.

Triglycerides are important for a good health, in normal amounts of course. The reason is that they are a major source of energy. But when our level of Triglycerides is high, it increases the risk of heart disease.

The excess of Triglycerides in blood (called hypertriglyceridemia) is linked to cases of coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, pancreatitis and stroke.

One of the reasons for a high level of Triglycerides is an unattended diabetes; and as other health conditions like cholesterol, our level of Triglycerides can be detected with a plasma test (blood test). Normal Triglycerides levels need to be below 150, being a measure of 200 considered high.

How To Reduce Triglyceride Levels

Some easy ways to lower the level of Triglycerides in or body are a good cardiovascular exercise routine and a diet with moderated carbohydrate intake which include essential fatty acids. The reduction of alcohol intake helps a lot, and the use of fish oil and niacin have reported good results in reducing levels of Triglycerides too.

The point is that lowering our level of Triglycerides is not that difficult. One of the easiest ways, as we see before, is to start burning more calories than we eat; or eating less calories than we could burn during the day. There are many publications with useful techniques that show you many ways to do it. Simply start eating healthier foods and start an easy and moderated cardiovascular exercise routine. You’ll realized that exercising a bit is not that difficult. You’ll start feeling better and look better which will be a motivation to keep doing it until you get to a point where if you miss one day of exercise you’ll feel that something is missing. Just do it! You’ve got nothing to lose and a new life to gain.
